From our selection of antique, reclaimed and FreshCut wood flooring we offer the products on this page in engineered wood flooring. With the exception of Antique Tobacco Oak PatinaDeep the appearance of the face looks the same in either solid or engineered so if you get the de javu feeling it is the same pages and pictures for solid and engineered.

Engineered Wood Floor 101

We start with the wood and cut it into veneers about ⅛" thick which is glued up to a ½" plywood platform. The result is a board which is more stable and less susceptible to shrinkage than solid wood.

Our Engineered Advantage

To start with we use an ⅛" thick veneer which can be sanded and refinished multiple times. The widths and lengths we offer in engineered are the same as we offer in solid wood. The last thing you want in your custom wood floor is a bunch of narrow and short boards creating a choppy appearance. Longer lengths and wider widths will help the floor to flow with the rest of the design. We also offer engineered wood flooring unfinished or with a custom finish, again, no off-the-shelf, generic flooring here.

Custom Textures & Finishes

We also offer hand-crafted textures and saw-mark textures in our engineered flooring products. The thick wear layer allows us to apply the same textures to the surface that we put on our solid wood floors. Again, we want your engineered wood floor to have the appearance of a custom solid wood floor. Our engineered wood floors come off the production line unfinished in anticipation of a site finish applied by the installer to once again emphasis the look of a custom solid wood floor. While unfinished is the standard we do offer some custom prefinished options. Let us know what look you want and we'll put something together for you.
