Tree Hugging

Technically, I have never hugged a tree, unless you count the posture I took in scooting up the Maple trees in my back yard as a kid. I have never fought against the establishment for the preservation of a single tree bound for destruction as "progress" moves through. My concern for trees grows from my use of these majestic organisms, and the phenominal material they provide on their eventual death; I also clearly comprehend that trees play an oh-so-important role in the life cycle of the globe we occupy, and that the substantial reduction of trees world wide will deal out consequences in the generations to come. I appreciate the beauty and majesty of a single aged tree, but my save the trees is more of an effort to develop a global, sustainable use of trees. So, how does one person go about that lofty goal?

"FSC Certification ensure the responsible use of forest resources", any time we use the FSC logo we have to have that statement or a similar one in proximity, for good reason. World wide there is so much waste of forest resources; we are getting better here in the U.S. while other areas are getting much worse. Usually when we use newly harvested wood (we label it FreshCut) we make sure it is FSC Certified whether you ask for it or not.. That way you know you are supporting a company that not only ensures your order is certified, but nearly every FreshCut product we make is certified. Many of our Antique Woods and Recycled Woods are available FSC Certified also.

Supporting the Forest Stewardship Council is the best way I know to make a difference myself, and, in turn, everyone who buys wood from HistoricWoods also contributes to the cause.

By the way, the maple tree in my back yard is now big enough for my boys to scoot up and sit in the branches among the red leaves. I hope they live in a world as abundant in trees as I do.
