not all barnwood was originally rough saw; we do get a regular supply of boards which were originally planed smooth and then aged to a nice weathered brown; these boards are graded out into our smooth product; the more refined texture is more appealing for some designs and applications; in the end the wood has the same history, it just came out looking a bit different
