it was a twelve mile wood trestle in what was an ambitious project by Union Pacific Railroad in 1902; in the 1990’s it may have been the largest reclaimed wood project in the world, ever; the wood spent 90 years submerged in the waters of the Great Salt Lake and added up to 20% of its weight in additional minerals from the water; it started as Douglas Fir, and still is, but has undergone a change from its previous life like no other wood we know of; while the original Douglas Fir would have been fairly color consistent, the hallmark of Trestlewood II is that it is now a wood that brings on the full spectrum of the rainbow; you will find shades of black, green, purple, yellow and red scattered throughout the boards; it is stunnin
